Our Story

The European Forensic Institute (EFI) is a fully accredited higher education institution specialising in forensic sciences, criminology, and investigative sciences. EFI offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes designed to equip students and professionals with advanced scientific knowledge, technical skills, and a strong ethical foundation.
Our roots date back to 2011, when experts in criminology, investigation, and security came together. Fast-forward to 2018, the European Forensic Institute was founded from experiences gained in education and consulting.
Today, we are located in the Malta Life Sciences Park, an innovation research centre, where our laboratory sessions take place. Our programmes combine practical, real-world experience with the latest technologies, ensuring students receive a comprehensive and applied education.
In 2025, EFI was awarded the “Excellence in Forensic Science” prize at the World Police Summit Awards 2025. This recognition, presented by the Dubai Police Force during the World Police Summit, honours the Institute’s exceptional achievements in advancing forensic science. As the first European higher education institution to fully integrate digital forensics, cybercrime investigation, and advanced crime scene science into its core academic programmes, the European Forensic Institute is redefining the future of forensic education.
