What Will You Achieve in Your First Year?
By the end of this stage of the programme, you will have developed a comprehensive understanding of forensic intelligence, crime scene management, forensic psychology, and evidence-based investigation. You will be able to apply professional and ethical standards in forensic practice while gaining practical experience in the collection, preservation, analysis, and interpretation of evidence.
Through a combination of online learning, independent study, practical laboratory sessions, and applied investigative exercises, you will develop the analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills required to manage complex forensic cases. You will also gain experience in crime scene analysis, biological evidence handling, DNA intelligence, and the application of forensic psychology in criminal investigations.
Upon successful completion of this stage, students will be prepared to undertake more advanced professional activities, practical work experiences, and specialised areas of study within the forensic and investigative fields.

What Will You Achieve in Your Second Year?
By the end of your second year, you will have developed advanced practical skills in forensic science, crime scene investigation, and evidence analysis. You will gain hands-on experience in the collection, preservation, examination, and interpretation of forensic evidence, including bloodstain pattern analysis, biological fluids, fingerprints, and trace evidence.
Through a combination of online learning, independent study, laboratory sessions, and practical exercises, you will learn how to apply scientific techniques and specialised forensic technologies to real-world investigations. You will also develop skills in forensic reporting, mobile device forensics, telecommunications data analysis, and the use of emerging forensic methodologies and research.
Upon successful completion of the second year, students will be prepared to progress to the final stage of the programme, with the knowledge, practical competencies, and professional confidence required for advanced forensic practice, research projects, and industry-based learning opportunities.
These experiences will prepare you for advanced forensic practice, research projects, and the final stage of your professional development. Upon successful completion of the prerequisite modules in the second academic year, you will also be eligible to begin your Practical Work Experience (PWE).
Students are encouraged to identify and apply for placements within the sector, organisation, or professional field that best aligns with their career aspirations. In addition, students may apply for opportunities offered through EFI’s Professional Partnership Programme (PPP), allowing them to gain valuable industry experience while completing the required number of practical training hours.

By the end of your final year, you will have developed the advanced analytical, investigative, and professional skills required to operate in complex forensic and criminal justice environments. You will be able to evaluate evidence, conduct independent research, analyse information from multiple sources, and apply scientific methodologies to support investigations and decision-making.
Through a combination of blended learning aproach, you will gain experience in areas such as OSINT and security analysis, accident and fire scene reconstruction, forensic reporting, geographical profiling, ballistics, forensic medicine, and the investigation of complex criminal cases. You will also learn how to collaborate effectively with investigators, legal professionals, and forensic specialists while applying professional, scientific, and ethical standards.
Upon successful completion of the programme, students will graduate with the knowledge, practical competencies, and professional confidence required to pursue careers in forensic science, criminal investigation, intelligence analysis, security, and related fields, or to continue their studies at postgraduate level.
