EFI Student Testimonial, Erasmus+ Experience
At EFI, we are proud to support our students in gaining international experience through Erasmus+ opportunities. In this testimonial, one of our students shares her personal journey, reflecting on the academic, professional, and cultural benefits of a mobility experience abroad, and how it contributed to her personal and career development.
Here is the testimonial of Janice Xerri, a student on the Master in Cyber Security, Digital Forensics and Crime Analysis at the European Forensic Institute, who recently completed her Erasmus+ experience in NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE) in Estonia.

My Erasmus+ experience was truly unforgettable and is something I will always look back on with gratitude. My placement began shortly after my selection, the preparation phase was quite intensive and, at times, overwhelming. However, the guidance and assistance I received from European Forensic Institute EFI and the receiving institute made the entire experience both manageable and enjoyable.
This mobility experience contributed significantly to both my personal and professional development. It allowed me to strengthen essential skills such as adaptability, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, all of which will be invaluable throughout my future career.
From a professional perspective, the placement complemented my Master’s studies by providing practical, hands-on experience and a genuine insight into the realities of the professional world. It enabled me to apply the knowledge gained during my studies in a real-world environment, bridging the gap between theory and practice.
One of the highlights of my Erasmus+ experience was the opportunity to participate in one of the largest cybersecurity exercises. This was an exceptional learning experience that enhanced my technical knowledge, broadened my understanding of the cybersecurity field, and allowed me to work alongside experienced professionals. The opportunities I received throughout the placement greatly enriched my learning journey and strengthened my confidence in pursuing a career in cybersecurity.
I would highly encourage other students to take advantage of Erasmus+ opportunities. Beyond the professional and academic benefits, the experience fosters personal growth, cultural exchange, and lifelong memories.
