We are currently seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Lecturer in General Psychology to join our academic team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality education while upholding the institution’s academic standards. This position requires professionalism, ethical conduct, and the ability to engage effectively with students in an online learning environment.
Your Opportunity
As a Lecturer in General Psychology, you will work closely with the academic department to inspire students’ learning. You will employ modern teaching practices and methodologies to create an engaging and effective educational experience.
Key Responsibilities
Course Delivery: Deliver courses in accordance with the academic calendar, ensuring comprehensive and effective coverage of the curriculum.
Course Preparation: Prepare and deliver course content that aligns with curriculum objectives. For courses involving practical or laboratory sessions, provide detailed session plans to facilitate effective learning experiences.
Student Supervision: Supervise and support students during their undergraduate and postgraduate research projects, dissertations, or theses. Offer academic guidance and support for individual modules, as needed.
Final Dissertation Support: Provide supervision, guidance, and support for students undertaking their final dissertation work.
Professional Competence: Maintain a high level of professional competence, including proficiency in relevant IT skills and online teaching platforms required for effective course delivery.
Professional Conduct and Ethics: Uphold integrity and ethical conduct with students and colleagues. Ensure compliance with academic obligations and maintain good standing within the academic community.
Professional Equipment: Use and maintain appropriate teaching materials, resources, and tools to ensure a high-quality teaching and learning experience for students.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Academic Qualifications: A Master’s degree or PhD in Psychology, Educational Psychology, or a closely related field.
Teaching Experience: Previous experience teaching at the tertiary (university) level.
Subject Expertise: In-depth knowledge of key general psychology concepts, including cognitive processes, behavioral theories, developmental psychology, personality assessment, and psychological research methods.
Research Background: Evidence of research activity and scholarly contributions in the field of general psychology.
Student Engagement: Ability to engage and motivate students from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds.
Organisational Skills: Strong organisational, time-management, and planning skills to meet academic deadlines.
Inclusive Approach: Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills in English (proficiency in an additional language is considered a plus).
Professional Development: Commitment to continuous professional development and staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in general psychology and online education.
