Yarisa Walsh has over 18 years of progressive leadership experience in financial crimes, cybercrime, and organized crimes in the financial sector. She also worked as a Risk Management and Compliance leader in a popular global enterprise company whose duties included partnering with teams worldwide on data privacy matters and anti-corruption practices. Yarisa is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and Certified Cyber Intelligence Professional (CCIP) and a long-standing member and volunteer of the International Association of Crime Analysts (IACA) and has been the recipient of various prestigious awards.

Organized Crime: In the time of Covid-19 Pandemic.

Abstract

During this presentation, we will explore some notable cases where organized criminal groups capitalize on legitimate businesses struggling with economic downturns and government regulations. We will also examine recent natural disasters, and societal conflict situations used by organized crime groups as a gateway to conceal illegal activities.
